在日本常常看到「暴走卡車」。在美國我一次也沒有看過，但是這一台好像日本的一樣，然後在紐約之Midtown。而前面上寫「KATO」。就是一個日本的名字。他是從日本到紐約開過來了嗎？怎麼可能！

I saw this truck in Midtown a while back.  It reminds me of "Dekotora" I saw in Japan.  I'd never seen one in the US before, but I also noticed that the front reads "KATO", a common Japanese boy's name.  Did this guy drive here from Japan!?

位於Flatbush Avenue側邊有這面牆。我不知道願因是什麼，但多數的蒙古人的照片貼在牆上。

I saw this just off of Flatbush.  I'm not sure why, but it seems to be a collection of Mongolian people's portraits.  This was a couple of months ago, so it might even be gone by now.

I like how the dedication only states that the "President of the United States" laid the cornerstone, but gives no name.  There's something very modest-looking about it.  (Riverside Church)

Brooklyn's Flatiron / ブルックリンのフラットアイアンビル / 布魯克林之熨斗大廈

この建物はプロスペクトパークの北西側に位置している。これを見ると、より有名なマンハッタンにある「フラットアイアンビルディング」を思い出す。

This building is just across the street from the main, North-West entrance to Prospect Park.  It reminds me of Manhattan's Flatiron Building.

位於展望公園北西側，這棟大廈的形狀讓我想起來曼哈頓的熨斗大廈。

The Hero of Two Worlds / 二つの世界の英雄 / 兩個世界之英雄

這個人物是名叫「拉法耶特」。雖然他是法國的貴族，但他也參加法國革命，也參加美國獨立戰爭。

Here is a monument in Prospect Park dedicated to Marquis de Lafayette.  This overachiever managed to participate in both America's Revolution and France's.

これはプロスペクトパークにあるラファイエットというフランス人の銅像だ。フランス人の貴族でありながら、フランス革命にも、アメリカ独立戦争にも参加した。

The American Bison Society / 米国バイソン守護会 / 美洲野牛協會

以前在北美大陸的美洲野牛非常多。但是到了十九世紀後半，減少了到只有大概一千頭。美洲野牛協會是為了保護美洲野牛建成的。一個建立者是布朗克斯動物園的老總，把一些美洲野牛搬到布朗克斯動物園養生。因為有這個背景，所以這個銅牌是在布朗克斯動物園裡。

I saw this plaque at the Bronx Zoo.  I looked it up, and it turns out that one of the founders of this society also worked at the Bronx Zoo.  Not only that, but the zoo is also where they moved some bison back in the day in order to preserve them.  It's thanks in part to the Bronx Zoo that we still have bison in this world.

ブロンクス動物園でこれを見かけた。アメリカバイソン守護会の記念碑である。なんでここにあるかというと、その協会の創立者の一人がブロンクス動物園の人だった。その上、１９世紀後半にバイソンを何頭かを動物園に移して保護したわけだ。そのお陰で、バイソンは今も存在している。

Randall's Island / ランドールズ島 / 蘭德爾島

蘭德爾島原來是兩座島，後來由填地變成一座島。島上的施設基礎設施蠻多，但面積大部分都是公園。

Randall's Island used to be two islands, but the small waterway between them was filled in.  The island has some other stuff on it, but it's mostly parkland.

ランドールズ島は元々島が二つあって、後で埋め立てられて一つになった。色んな施設があるが、それでも島の多くは公園に占められている。
